Log in with two-factor authentication (2FA)
How two-factor authentication works for your NextPatient login, how often you'll be asked for a code, and what to do if your practice shares a login.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your NextPatient account by requiring a verification code in addition to your email address and password.
How does 2FA work in NextPatient?
- Log in to your NextPatient account using your email address and password.
- NextPatient will send a 6-digit verification code to the email address associated with your account.
- Enter the code on the verification screen to complete your login.

New to NextPatient? If you haven't logged in before, follow our first-time login instructions to set up your account.
How often will I need to complete 2FA?
When logging in, you can select Remember this browser to reduce how frequently you're asked to enter a verification code.
- With Remember this browser selected: You can skip 2FA on that browser for up to 90 days, unless your browser's cookies are cleared.
- Without Remember this browser selected: You'll be prompted to complete 2FA every 30 days or when logging in from a new device.
Keep in mind that using a different browser or clearing your browser's cookies may require you to verify your identity again.
What if I don't receive my verification code?
If your verification code doesn't arrive:
- Check your email's spam or junk folder.
- Confirm you're checking the inbox associated with your NextPatient login.
- Allow a few minutes for the email to arrive.
If you still aren't receiving your verification code, contact your Customer Success Manager or email help@nextpatient.co for assistance.
What verification methods are supported?
Currently, NextPatient sends 2FA verification codes by email only.
Text messages and authenticator apps are not supported at this time.
Is 2FA required for my practice?
NextPatient began enabling two-factor authentication across accounts on July 11, 2025, to help protect patient information and account security.
If you have questions about 2FA requirements or need assistance accessing your account, please contact your Customer Success Manager.
Can multiple users share a NextPatient login?
No. To support HIPAA compliance and maintain appropriate account security, each user must have their own NextPatient login credentials.
Sharing login credentials is not supported.
